Moses Campus Sprinkler Upgrade

This infrastructure project encompassed the comprehensive replacement and modernization of the sprinkler system at Montefiore’s Moses Campus, significantly enhancing fire protection and regulatory compliance across one of the health system’s most critical facilities. The scope of work included removal of aging piping and sprinkler heads, installation of new distribution lines, risers, and pumps, and integration of upgraded monitoring and alarm systems in line with NFPA and NYC Department of Buildings requirements. Together, these improvements expand coverage, improve redundancy, and establish a robust system capable of supporting current and future operational demands. Because the work took place in an active hospital environment, planning and execution were carefully managed to minimize disruption. Construction activities were sequenced to maintain continuous patient care and operational safety, with phased shutdowns coordinated during off-hours. Special measures for dust, noise, and infection control ensured sensitive patient and diagnostic areas remained protected throughout. The resulting upgrade delivers far more than compliance. It provides long-term resiliency, enhances the safety of patients, staff, and visitors, and ensures that life safety systems align with Montefiore’s mission of uninterrupted, high-quality care.
