Well-Baby Nursery

This project delivered a new, state of the art well baby nursery, constructed within an active maternity unit to enhance NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital's newborn care capabilities. The associated gut renovation involved significant architectural and MEP upgrades, including a dedicated split-system A/C unit with humidity control, med-gas and plumbing upgrades, fire alarm and fire protection enhancements, along with electrical upgrades to accommodate new biomedical equipment. Significant low voltage work was required to accommodate an Infant Protection System and new nurse call system within the entire maternity unit. The interior program included new resilient flooring, built in casework, and lighting designed for both staff visibility and family comfort. Throughout the renovation, strict coordination was required to maintain continuous maternity operations while meeting infection control protocols. Construction was successfully completed on a tight timeline, meeting aggressive DOH inspection and ribbon-cutting ceremony deadlines. The completed nursery offers improved clinical functionality, energy-efficient systems, and a modern environment tailored to newborn care.
